Testimonials

"My daughter has had the privilege of having Maria as her violin teacher for several years and her love for music and for the violin has increased accordingly. An encouraging and kind teacher makes a student want to do her best, as was the case for my daughter. Maria is a very talented musician with a lot of patience for her students. She has an insightful way of explaining things and is full of enthusiasm. I am thankful for the time we spent with Maria and for everything she taught my daughter!"

"Maria Overman was our very first violin teacher two years ago. Then, Rowan 8 1/2, desired to learn the instrument after watching Maria play with her family during a friend's wedding ceremony. Rowan was inspired from the very beginning to learn from Maria who beautifully played the violin and methodically and skillfully instructed the violin skills using the Suzuki books. It was because of her kind introduction to violin and the skill of playing the instrument that it became a dream for Rowan to become a violin teacher, just like Maria when she grows up  "...because she plays really good and is sooo pretty." Maria teaches with a perfect blend of poise, professionalism and a joy of playing. She first established a good foundation on form and correctness of posture for which we are thankful. Maria was able to work with very beginner reading skills and built confidence into Rowan learning the beautiful language of music. We like her a lot!

"Miss Overman is encouraging and she teaches how to hold and position yourself properly before you learn how to play the violin. This helped me greatly when I started learning songs. I really enjoyed having her as my teacher and it would be nice to have again."

"I had the privilege of having Maria teach my daughter the violin. Maria is very thorough, encouraging,  and sweet.  I really appreciate how she didn't just jump right into teaching songs but made sure that my daughter not only knew all parts of the violin but knew and practiced A LOT how to hold the violin, how to hold the bow and use it.  This really helped my daughter with her practicing. I hope we will have the blessing of Maria as a teacher again in the future."
